Welcome to Downline, the multi-level marketing podcast hosted by Bailey Pelletier. With the main focus on consumer awareness, Downline focuses on the predatory industry of multi-level marketing, breaking down how they work, who they target, and why it matters. This podcast goes beyond the crazy stories we hear about MLMs and explores the legal complexities of the industry as well as offering up-to-date insights on the businesses behind them.
Originally, this podcast did not have a cohesive brand – most of the social media posts and the podcast logo was very intricate for a logo. During the rebranding process, I drew inspiration from the podcast’s previous branding elements (colours blue and indigo) and incorporated a palette of complimentary colours (blues, white, teal). These colours evoke a sense of sophistication, professionalism, and trust, aligning perfectly with Downline’s mission to dissect the MLM industry.
In addition to the visual overhaul, Downline’s rebranding also included the creation of custom icons that capture the essence of the MLM space (money, connections, pyramid). These icons are visual representations of what MLMs focus on (as they are “businesses” first and foremost) as engaging and recognizable elements throughout Downline’s brand ecosystem. Additionally, I wanted to add in the symbol of a pyramid because no matter how MLM’s manipulate, they are practically pyramid schemes. (I am not up for debate on that)
To further enhance the podcast’s online presence and engage with its audience, content and templates were created for social media platforms, mainly Instagram. These designs not only introduce each podcast episode but also start general discussions or quotes on various MLM-related subjects. Through use of these social media assets, Downline will build even more of a community through promoting engagement of questions.
Downline is not just a podcast, but a journey through the underbelly of the MLM industry. This rebrand compliments the vibe of a new, interesting podcast with content that can be quite dark.
